“First, I do not sit down at my desk to put into verse something that is already clear in my mind. If it were clear in my mind, I should have no incentive or need to write about it. We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.” Cecil Day-Lewis, Irish poet
Q•DESIGN, P.L.C. is a three-person architecture / interiors / planning firm founded in 1991 by architect and designer husband-wife team of Ronald A. and Carrie V. Quinn. The SWaM/"Micro" certified (#680500) firm is located at historic Fort Monroe National Monument.
Q•DESIGN, P.L.C. is a “generalist” firm providing a range of professional services for hundreds of governmental, commercial, institutional and residential commissions and has successfully completed projects with various local and state agencies, contractors, developers, and private clients. One of the primary goals is to work on a variety of commissions throughout our career in an effort to be a well-rounded architecture firm offering services for projects of all scopes, sizes and budgets. Our design approach is to integrate architecture within the positive aspects of the surrounding environment (buildings, street networks, open public spaces, etc.) while considering function, building code and zoning requirements, budgets and materials/life cycle/energy costs, and other important aspects such as client feedback, history, accessibility, community impact, and sustainable design.
Projects over the last 27 years cover much of the Eastern seaboard from Delaware to Florida and include work in urban, suburban, waterfront, and rural environments as well as at least 30 designated historic districts (and within other old and historic areas/structures). The firm is a member of Preservation Virginia and the National Trust. The firm is also currently licensed and insured (general, professional liability, auto) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
